Bio

Dr. Van Durme is an Assistant Research Professor in Computer Science at the Johns Hopkins University and a research scientist at the Human Language Technology Center of Excellence where he is the chief lead of text research. He is interested in natural language processing and specifically computational semantics and streaming/randomized algorithms.  He is also affiliated with the Center for Language and Speech Processing. He earned his B.S. and B.A.  (’01), an M.S.  in Language Technologies (’04) and an M.S. in Computer Science (’06) and his Ph.D. (’09) from the University of Rochester. His research focuses on social media, randomized algorithms, and computational semantics.
