Lieny Jeon is Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Education. Dr. Jeon’s research focuses upon the environmental factors, such as early childhood education, family characteristics, and neighborhood disadvantage that impact children’s lives. She examines early childhood teachers’ social and emotional wellbeing and the way this impacts young children’s development; a great deal of her research interest focuses upon the associations between teachers’ social-emotional capacity (e.g., depression, stress, coping, emotion regulation, motivation, etc.) and children’s social and emotional learning. She is interested in finding creative ways to contribute to educators’ advanced professional development and social-emotional wellbeing. She also examines how early childhood education buffers challenging home and neighborhood environments and maximizes at-risk children’s cognitive and social-emotional development.
